Block Island, Rhode Island // Adventures With The Goodones
Block Island is a beautiful little island about 12 miles off the coast of Rhode Island! The population is around 1,000 and the island itself is about 7 miles long and 3 miles wide, it's shaped like a pork chop and covers 7,000 acres. It's an island full of history and awe!
We flew from Columbus, Ohio to Providence, Rhode Island. After getting out of the airport we ubered to the ferry station, which was about an hour away. We caught the afternoon ferry to the island. After a bumpy and cold, but so much fun ferry ride we arrived to Block Island. (Brandon and I always have the worst of luck with boats and getting splashed with cold water.)
Upon arriving we grabbed our luggage and headed to our hotel - The Rose Farm Inn. It’s quaint and hidden back a long dirt road. We were greeted by the sweet older woman who ran the front desk, she gave us our key and all of the details one might need to know to have an enjoyable stay! Once we got to our room we napped for an hour, woke up, and then googled where to get some yummy dinner. We ended up finding a beautiful restaurant inside the Spring House Inn that was right across the way from where we were staying! Most of their food was grown in gardens right behind the hotel, everything is seasonal and prepared beautifully! AND the most important thing is, they are so wonderful with accommodating food allergies and special diets! I was so worried about being out on an island with the diet I am on, I am so thankful we found this place!
I was second shooting the following day, so Brandon rented a moto from Island Moped and Bikes. He explored the island all day, he witnessed the aftermath of a plane crash on the island and found so many beautiful hidden gems all around the island!
On the following day we got up before sunrise and went on a little morning adventure around the island, we went to all the lighthouses and then walked down to the rocky shores on the --- It was such a great way to start the day. On our way back into town we stopped at Persephone's Kitchen and got smoothie bowls + a tumeric latte, they also have kombucha on tap!!!
Our ferry back to the mainland was at 1PM, we grabbed our luggage and got on board. Once getting back to Rhode Island we headed into Providence to kill the afternoon until our flight in the evening.
It was a short but very sweet trip to Block Island, it’s definitely a place I would love to spend more time visiting and exploring. If you want to feel like you’re in another country without leaving the US, I highly recommend Block Island, it truly is a special place.
